Stakeholder communications/Project Management: Collaborative working and shared services

The client:

England and Wales Cricket Board (EWCB) / Eastern Region County Cricket Boards

The brief:

To produce a report making recommendations to the Eastern Region County Cricket Boards on opportunities for collaborative working and shared service provision

The work:

In 2015 the EWCB appointed Bavester Associates to work with nine County Cricket Boards within the East Region to help them prioritise and plan in relation to collaborative working and a move towards shared services.  The work needed to build on previous discussions that had taken place and Katie used an initial questionnaire issued to all Boards to gather information and to ‘test’ the attitudes of staff and volunteer members towards collaborative working.  This provided an important evidence base against which to then conduct a series of in-depth consultation interviews with key staff and Board members from the nine Boards.  The work identified a prioritised list of projects and areas for collaboration plus the potential challenges and issues related to implementation. The final report made extensive recommendations as to how to move forward and Katie also ran a workshop involving 25 representatives from across all Boards to allow them to provide feedback on the conclusions and to undertake further planning around the implementation process.

The outcome:

The production of an extensive report which detailed opportunities for future collaboration and the key actions required to make this happen.  The report was widely welcomed by the EWCB and Boards and a firm commitment from Boards was given to commence implementation of various collaborative projects and shared service delivery.
